Does Instagram pay for Reels views?

No. Instagram does not publish a per-view rate for Reels. As of October 2026, the only money it ties to Reels performance is invite-only, limited-time bonuses. Most Reels income comes from brands: a flat fee per post, affiliate commissions, or pay-per-view campaigns that pay a rate for every 1,000 views your Reel gets.

Does Instagram pay you for views?

Not directly. As of October 2026, Instagram has no open program that pays creators a rate per view. Its creators site describes bonuses as limited-time and invite-only, paid for the performance of Reels, loops and single-image posts. There is no form to apply with: Instagram picks who is invited.

Brand money also runs through Instagram, via partnership ads and its creator marketplace, where you and the brand set the terms. Those deals are separate from Instagram's own payments.

What happened to the Reels Play bonus?

Reels Play was the closest Instagram came to paying for views. Meta says that beginning March 9, 2023, it stopped extending new and renewed Reels Play deals for creators on Instagram and Facebook globally, while honoring deals already running. Since then, bonuses have come back only as invite-only tests.

One test shows the scale. In April 2024, an invite-only spring bonus, tested in the U.S., Japan and South Korea, was capped at $30,000 per creator for 30 days. Two creators told Business Insider they saw RPMs (earnings per 1,000) of 14 to 16 cents, as reported by Tubefilter.

That is the most concrete public number we found, and it is two years old. Instagram's help pages publish no rate today, so treat any "Instagram pays $X per 1,000 views" claim as a guess.

How much does Instagram pay for 1,000 or 1 million views?

On its own, nothing per view. What 1,000 or 1 million Reels views earn depends on who is paying. An Instagram bonus, if you're invited, pays an unpublished amount. A brand deal pays a flat fee. A pay-per-view campaign pays a set rate per 1,000 views, so 1 million views at $1.00 per 1K is $1,000 before fees.

The bonus row applies only if Instagram invites you, and a 2024 figure may not match any test today. Flat fees follow follower count; per-view pay follows the Reel. A small account's Reel with 100,000 counted views at $1.00 per 1K earns $100, the same as a big account's Reel with those views.

Per-view rates differ by campaign. Foundry, a creator agency, reported in September 2026 that 50 campaigns on the Content Rewards board (run on Whop) had a median of $1.00 per 1,000 views, with rates from $0.05 to $3.00. For TikTok's own numbers, see how much TikTok pays per 1,000 views.

What does your Instagram account need for the paid partnership label?

A professional account, creator or business, with branded content tools turned on. Instagram decides who gets them. Its eligibility rules ask for public content on a professional account, compliance with its community and monetization policies, and an authentic, established presence with enough followers. Instagram doesn't publish a follower number.

  1. 01

    Switch to a professional account

In the Instagram app, change your account type to creator or business if it isn't one already.

  2. 02

    Set up branded content tools

Follow the setup steps in the app. If you aren't eligible, you can ask Instagram for a review (Instagram Help Center).

  3. 03

Use the label on every paid Reel

Each use of the tools adds a label to the post, and the tools work only in the Instagram app (Instagram Help Center).

When you turn the label on, you tag a brand partner, and that partner needs a professional Instagram account. The first time you tag a brand, Instagram sends it a request. Until the brand approves, the label shows without its name; if the brand denies, the label is removed (Instagram Help Center).

On Markapping, a video without the paid partnership label doesn't count, so set this up before you join a campaign. Screens for both Instagram and TikTok are in our paid partnership label guide.

How does Markapping count Instagram views?

Markapping uses the number the Instagram app shows as views on your Reel. Meta's developer docs define views as the total number of times media has been played on Instagram. Counting starts the moment you post.

  • Counted: views the Instagram app shows on a Reel you posted on your own account, with the paid partnership label on, inside the campaign's window.
  • Not counted: Reels without the label, Reels posted from someone else's account, and views after the window ends.
  • Held: videos that look suspicious in the fake-view check every video gets. A person makes the final call, and you can appeal once.
  • Capped: a campaign's maximum per video or per creator caps earnings, and below its minimum view count, if it sets one, nothing is paid.

Don't buy views, join engagement groups or post from fake accounts. Every video gets the fake-view check, and the team reviews videos again in a 3-day check after the window.

How much could your Reels earn per view?

Divide your counted views by 1,000 and multiply by the campaign's rate, up to its limits, then add any install, trial or subscription bonus. Markapping keeps 5% and you keep 95%. For example, 100,000 counted views at $1.00 per 1,000 is $100, and you keep $95.

Views × rate

$142.50

Each campaign sets its own rate (at least $1.00 per 1,000 views) and may cap what one video or one creator can earn. Install, trial or subscription bonuses are paid on top and are not included here.

In example D, 1 million views at $1.50 per 1K would be $1,500, but the $500 cap per video applies. Read the limits before you post. Nothing here is guaranteed: you earn only for views counted in the window, at the campaign's rate.

Questions

Does Instagram pay for 500 views?

No. Instagram has no per-view rate, and its bonuses are invite-only tests. Even at the 14 to 16 cents per 1,000 two creators reported in a 2024 bonus test, 500 views would be worth under 10 cents. In a pay-per-view campaign at $1.00 per 1,000 views, 500 views earn $0.50, unless the campaign sets a minimum view count.

How much does Instagram pay for 1 million views?

Nothing by default. If you're invited to a bonus, the rate is unpublished; at the RPM two creators reported in a 2024 test, 1 million views would be about $140 to $160. In a campaign at $1.00 per 1,000 views, 1 million counted views earn $1,000 before fees, or $950 after Markapping's 5%, if the campaign's limits allow it.

Can I apply for an Instagram bonus?

No. Instagram's creators site says bonuses are limited-time and invite-only, so there is no application form. Check your professional account in the Instagram app for an invitation. Never give your password to anyone who DMs you about a bonus. A real invitation comes from Instagram itself, inside the app.

How does Instagram pay you?

Instagram pays its creator earnings to a payout account you set up. Per Instagram's payout rules, checked Oct 18, 2026, you need a balance of at least $5 in the US or $25 elsewhere ($100 for wire transfers), and payouts run on the 7th and 21st of each month.

Does Markapping pay per follower?

No. You're paid per counted view, not per follower. Earnings are counted views divided by 1,000, times the campaign's rate, up to the campaign's limits, plus any bonus. Joining is free, and Markapping keeps 5% of what you earn. Instagram still decides who can use its paid partnership label.

Is Markapping live?

Not yet. Markapping opens soon, and creators can join the waitlist now. It works in your phone or computer browser with no app to install, and covers TikTok and Instagram Reels only. Details such as payout methods will be confirmed before the panels open.

Do Reels replays count as views?

On Instagram, usually yes. SocialPilot reports that Views, which replaced Plays and Replays in 2025, count repeat views by the same person. Markapping uses the number the Instagram app shows as views. Every video also goes through a fake-view check, and suspicious ones are held for a person to review.
