How much should you budget at each stage?
App marketing cost depends on the stage, not on one magic number. A first paid test fits in under $1,000. A launch for a small or mid-size app starts around $5,000, and large apps in crowded categories spend $100,000 or more, per Business of Apps. Agency and tool fees come on top of that.
| Stage | Typical spend | Where the number comes from |
|---|---|---|
| First paid test (one month) | From about $620 | TikTok's own example: the minimum lifetime budget for a 31-day ad group, $20 x 31 (TikTok Ads Manager help) |
| Lean startup campaign | $5,000-$15,000 | REPLUG, an app marketing agency (September 2025) |
| Small or mid-size app launch | From $5,000 | Business of Apps (February 2025) |
| Large or competitive app launch | $100,000+ | Business of Apps (February 2025) |
| Agency-run growth | $3,000-$25,000+ a month, before ad spend | Sonar (updated September 2026) |
Most of the money is media: what you pay to have your app shown, installed or watched. The sections below break it down by channel, then show what $500, $2,000 and $10,000 can buy.
What does each marketing channel cost in 2026?
Paid social ads cost about $3.50-$5.00 per 1,000 impressions worldwide. A paid install costs roughly $1.50-$5.00, depending on platform and country. Creator content ranges from about $1 per 1,000 views on per-view campaigns to thousands of dollars for one sponsored video. The table gives each channel's unit and source, as of October 2026.
| Channel | You pay per | Typical cost | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| TikTok ads | 1,000 impressions | $4.08 median, August 2025 to July 2026, 5,900 brands | Focus Digital |

Prices move: Meta's average price per ad rose 12% year over year in the second quarter of 2026 (Meta). Treat older figures, like the February 2025 install costs, as rough, and check your own numbers after a week of testing.
How much should I pay an influencer?
A sponsored TikTok or Reel from a creator with 1,000-10,000 followers costs about $50-$500. One from a creator with 10,000-100,000 followers costs about $200-$2,500. Above 100,000 followers, prices start near $1,000 and pass $10,000 for accounts over 1 million (Modash, Later). These are flat fees, paid whatever the view count.
| Followers | TikTok video (Modash, Feb 2026) | Reel or TikTok (Later, July 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| 1K-10K | $50-$200 | $200-$500 |
| 10K-100K | $200-$1,000 | $800-$2,500 |
| 100K-500K | $1,000-$5,000 | $2,500-$10,000+ for 100K-1M (feed post, Reel or YouTube) |
| 500K-1M | $5,000-$10,000 | Included in the row above |
| 1M+ | $10,000+ | $10,000-$50,000+ |
Modash's figures are rough ranges for North American creators. Above 100,000 followers, Later gives one combined range per tier for all formats.
To compare a flat fee with ads, turn it into a cost per 1,000 views. Example: you pay $800 for a micro creator's video. If it gets 40,000 views, you paid $20 per 1,000 views. If it gets 200,000, you paid $4. An influencer marketing lead at Loop Earplugs, quoted by Modash, suggests aiming for a maximum CPM of $20. The influencer CPM calculator runs this math for any deal.
How far does $500 go in a per-view creator campaign?
In a per-view campaign you set a rate per 1,000 views and pay only for views that get counted, not for posts. At $1.00 per 1,000 views, a $500 budget buys up to 500,000 counted views. On Markapping, budget the videos don't earn comes back to you, and the 10% fee ($50) comes on top.
Markapping is a pay-per-view creator marketing platform for mobile apps: app owners fund a campaign and pay creators for every 1,000 views their videos get on TikTok and Instagram Reels. It is not live yet; app owners can join the waitlist on the Markapping for apps page. Here is how a $500 campaign would work under its rules (example).
- 01
You fund the campaign
$500 budget plus the 10% platform fee: $550, paid up front. Your first campaign is reviewed by the Markapping team before it goes live. If it is rejected and never goes live, the budget and the fee are refunded.
- 02
You set the rate and the limits
Example: $1.00 per 1,000 views, at most $100 per video, and nothing paid until a video reaches 1,000 views. With a $100 cap per video, no single video can use more than a fifth of the budget.
- 03
Creators post and views are counted
Creators post on their own TikTok or Instagram account with the paid partnership label on. Views count from the moment a video is posted until the window you picked (7, 14 or 30 days after approval) ends.
- 04
Every video is checked
Each video gets a fake-view check. After the counting window, the Markapping team reviews it again in a 3-day check. Suspicious videos are held, and a person makes the final call.
- 05
What's left comes back
Example: the videos end with 320,000 counted views, which cost $320. The other $180 comes back as a refund or as credit, your choice. Your total is $320 plus the $50 fee, $370, or about $1.16 per 1,000 counted views.
| Rate per 1,000 views | You pay | Most counted views | Creator keeps per 1,000 views |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1.00 | $550 | 500,000 | $0.95 |
| $2.00 | $550 | 250,000 | $1.90 |
| $4.00 | $550 | 125,000 | $3.80 |
A higher rate buys fewer views but may draw more creators. You can also add a bonus, with its own price, for each install, trial or paid subscription; the example leaves bonuses out. Campaign analytics show spend, counted views, top videos and an install-lift figure that is clearly labeled as an estimate. More on the model in pay-per-view influencer marketing.
Should you hire an app marketing agency or do it yourself?
Hire an agency when you have ad budget to manage and no time to manage it. Mobile growth retainers typically run $5,000-$25,000 a month, or $3,000-$7,500 for early-stage apps, per Admiral Media, and most agencies ask for at least three months. For a small app, the fee can be bigger than the media budget.
| What you compare | Agency | Do it yourself | Per-view creator platform |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fee | $5,000-$25,000 a month, or 10-20% of ad spend with a $1,500-$2,500 monthly minimum (Admiral Media) | Your time, plus tools | A platform fee; on Markapping, 10% of the campaign budget |
| Commitment | Usually a 3-6 month minimum (Sonar) | None | Per campaign; on Markapping, from $500 |
| Spend before you can judge results | $9,000-$75,000+ (Sonar) | One test budget | One campaign budget |
| Fits best | Apps with steady ad spend and no marketer | Founders testing a first channel | Apps that want many creator videos without one-by-one deals |
Doing it yourself is cheaper in cash, not in hours. ASO tools run $25-$1,500 a month, per Business of Apps. Starting from zero? See how to market an app with no money for what to do before you spend anything.
How many views will my budget buy?
Divide the budget by the rate per 1,000 views, then multiply by 1,000. At $1.25 per 1,000 views, $5,000 buys up to 4,000,000 counted views. On Markapping the 10% platform fee comes on top, so a $5,000 budget costs $5,500 in total. Move the sliders to try your own numbers.
- Buys up to
- You pay (with 10% fee)
- $5,500
Minimum budget $500, minimum rate $1.00 per 1,000 views. Install, trial or subscription bonuses are not included here. Payment processing fees, if any, are shown before you pay.
The calculator shows the most views a budget can buy, before bonuses. If a campaign ends with fewer counted views, the unspent budget comes back as a refund or credit. All fees are on the pricing page.
What can an app marketing budget of $500, $2,000 or $10,000 buy?
Here are three example splits. They are not a plan for every app; they show how the 2026 costs on this page add up. Markapping's part uses its own rules, which apply once it opens. Ad figures use the TikTok median CPM of $4.08 and are rough.
| Budget | One way to split it | What it buys, roughly |
|---|---|---|
| $500 | One channel only. A Markapping campaign needs $550 ($500 plus the 10% fee), so it does not fit. Spend it on about three weeks of TikTok ads just above the $20-a-day ad group minimum, or on one or two videos from creators under 10,000 followers. | About 120,000 ad impressions, or one or two sponsored videos at $200-$500 each |
| $2,000 | $1,100 on a per-view creator campaign ($1,000 budget plus $100 fee). $900 on TikTok or Meta ads, about $30 a day for a month. | Up to 1,000,000 counted views at $1.00 per 1,000, plus about 220,000 ad impressions |
| $10,000 | $5,500 on a per-view creator campaign ($5,000 plus $500 fee). $3,000 on ads, about $100 a day for a month. $1,500 for one flat-fee video from a micro creator. | Up to about 3.3 million counted views at $1.50 per 1,000, about 735,000 ad impressions, and one sponsored video |
Before you spend, pick the number you will judge it by: cost per install, per trial or per paying user. Spend part of the budget, check that number, then decide where the rest goes.
Questions
How much does it cost to advertise an app on TikTok?
There is no fixed price. You set a budget, which must exceed $50 a day per campaign and $20 a day per ad group (TikTok), so a 31-day ad group needs at least $620. The median TikTok CPM was $4.08 per 1,000 impressions from August 2025 to July 2026 (Focus Digital).
What is a good cost per install for an app?
It depends on platform, country and category. Business of Apps puts cost per install at $1.50-$3.50 on iOS and $1.50-$4.00 on Android globally, and $2.50-$5.00 in North America (Business of Apps, February 2025). A good one is below what an average user pays you over time.
How much should I pay for influencer marketing?
Start from the views you expect, not the follower count. Sponsored videos from creators with 10,000-100,000 followers cost about $200-$2,500 (Modash, Later). Divide the fee by expected views, multiply by 1,000, and compare the result with ads at about $4-$5 per 1,000 impressions (Focus Digital).
Is $500 enough to market an app?
It is enough for one small test, not a launch. $500 covers about three weeks of TikTok ads at the ad group minimum (TikTok), or one or two sponsored videos from small creators (Later). A Markapping campaign starts at $500 plus a $50 platform fee. Pick one channel and measure cost per install before spending more.
How much does an app marketing agency cost?
Mobile growth retainers typically run $5,000-$25,000 a month, with $3,000-$7,500 common for early-stage apps (Admiral Media). Some agencies charge 10-20% of ad spend with a monthly minimum instead. Ad spend is extra, and 3-6 month minimum contracts are common (Sonar).
How much does Markapping cost?
There is no subscription. App owners pay a campaign budget from $500 plus a 10% platform fee, up front, and set a rate from $1.00 per 1,000 views. Unspent budget comes back as a refund or credit. Markapping is opening soon, and app owners can join the waitlist now. Details are on the pricing page.
Do views turn into installs?
Not directly. A view means someone saw the video, not that they installed the app, so track installs in your own analytics during any campaign. On Markapping, analytics include an install-lift figure labeled as an estimate, and you can add a bonus for each install, trial or paid subscription.
